How home service businesses are using financing to grow
We surveyed 5,151 home service businesses about how many of their jobs are financed by customers. Here's what we found.
66%

13%
of jobs are financed, on average
1 in 8
businesses finance more than 40% of their jobs — financing is core to how they sell
Financing use climbs with revenue
At businesses earning $20M+ annually, nearly 1 in 5 jobs are financed. That’s almost double the rate of businesses under $1M.
Some trades lean on financing more
The bigger the ticket, the more financing matters. Foundation, HVAC, remodeling, and roofing are the trades leaning hardest on financing to close.
Financing varies by state
Businesses in Wyoming, Alabama, Utah, and New Hampshire have the largest share of jobs paid for with financing, about 17% on average.

So, how do they do it?
Here's what businesses with the highest financing rates often do differently.
Make financing part of the pitch, not a fallback. The best sales managers make sure every rep is trained to introduce financing during the estimate, before the customer reacts to the total, not after.
Track and coach the share of jobs financed like any other KPI. Have dashboards, leaderboards, and performance metrics tied to the percent of jobs financed, not just revenue closed.
Standardize on one financing partner. If one provider can cover your customers across credit profiles and job sizes, you only need one application, one approval flow, and one thing to train on. Reps don't have to remember which option applies to which job and customers get a consistent, repeatable experience.
Promote monthly payments everywhere the customer looks. It should be on the appointment reminder and confirmation texts, the website and online quote tool, trucks and vehicle wraps, printed estimates/invoices, and even email signatures.
Get the application into the field, not stuck in the office. Reps can pull up prequalification on a tablet during the in-home visit so financing is resolved before they leave, instead of a follow-up call.
Last year alone, Wisetack helped us close 10 to 15% more jobs. We would've lost most of those without it. Wisetack gives us the tools to keep growing.
